In the pharmaceutical field, it is used to formulate protective ointments, laxatives, analgesics, and antidotes, and can be processed into anticonvulsants, midecamycin, acetylspiramycin, creatinine, magnesium trisilicate, griseofulvin, salinomycin, natamycin, tobramycin, Shenyan Kang, gibberellin, and streptomycin sulfate, among others.
Used as a culture medium component in the microbial industry, as an additive in brewing, as a magnesium supplement for brewing water, and as a nutrient source during fermentation.
In the light industry, it is used as a stabilizer for calcium hydrogen phosphate in the production of fresh yeast, monosodium glutamate, beverages, mineral water, health-care salt, sea crystal, bathing products, "Budweiser"-type beer, and toothpaste.
Used in food additives as a nutritional supplement, firming agent, flavor enhancer, and processing aid;
In the chemical industry, it is used to produce other magnesium salts such as magnesium stearate, magnesium hydrogen phosphate, and magnesium oxide, as well as other sulfates such as potassium sulfate and sodium sulfate.
In the dyeing and printing industry, it is used as an alkali-resistant agent for printing and dyeing fine cotton and silk fabrics; it also serves as a weighting agent for cotton and silk. Additionally, it can be used as a filler in kapok products and in the production of rayon.
